Chuck and I cook a lot of dinners for ourselves, but it seems like almost every night comes the question, “What do you want to do about dinner?” Occasionally the answer is, “Let’s go out!” Then comes the decision of where to go. We have some options for you at our top 8 favorite Jasper restaurants! Certainly, these aren’t the only places to eat here, but these are the ones we frequent the most.
Close to our Jasper Bed and Breakfast
We have a number of pretty good options within a 10-ish minute drive of our Jasper, Texas bed and breakfast.
Rue’s BBQ

This little drive up BBQ place is right around the corner from us, and dee-licious. Note that their hours are Thu, Fri, and Sat only. But very much worth the wait! Everything here is good, but I think the sausage sandwich is my favorite. Or the chopped beef … or pulled pork. Just go with that everything is good!
Hamburger Depot
3949 Sam Rayburn Parkway Ste 6, Brookeland, TX 75931
This is one of our faves! The Rayburn location has the most varied menu and is the closest to us. In addition to hamburgers, they have salads, wraps, and even pizza. But you’re at Hamburger Depot, so just go for the burger! More than one guest has come back to the Inn and said it’s the best burger they’ve ever had. Don’t skip the onion rings!
Chapala Mexican Bar and Grill
3949 Sam Rayburn Pkwy, Brookeland, TX 75931
Just down from Hamburger Depot is Chapala. For standard Tex-Mex fare, this fits the bill. Good margaritas and friendly service. I usually go for the Chapala nachos … yum!
The Stump

Very “home-style” cooking and a nice variety on the menu. A favorite is the pulled pork tacos, but a chicken fried chicken will turn up on the plate, too … They have a full bar and “the club” next door. This should be one stop during your trip.
Rayburn Country Resort

This is a nice option if you’re looking for a little atmosphere. A good menu, lots of options, and a full bar. They also have a great patio out back.
Head Into Town - Jasper TX Restaurants
We have great options if you want to trek into town, too, all less than an hour away from our East Texas bed and breakfast!
Smitty’s Smoke House

Aaah, Smitty’s. The ribs. The chopped beef. The mac ‘n cheese. Is your getaway even complete without BBQ? Of course not. Get to Smitty’s!
Texas Wine Shop

Specializing in wines made from the native Muscadine grape, there’s a nice variety of wine options here and a good menu. This should be a “must stop” during your visit. Say hi to Susanne and tell her we sent you!
Cedar Tree

With both a buffet and a full menu, it’s hard to imagine you won’t find something to your liking at Cedar Tree. And if you’re a seafood lover, Friday is seafood buffet night! They haven’t run out of crab legs yet … but get over there!
